Mark banned the chair from in front of the computer, years ago, maybe (10?), so this is what we use to sit and work......a stability ball! I resisted like hell, for one it takes up more room than a chair and it never seems to color co-ordinate, LOL (over the years it's been purple or red, and it is in our bedroom afterall), not to mention it was difficult finding a desk that it fits under, and it takes a while to get used to sitting on, at least it did for me.
Mark had a back injury in 2000 and has found it's been instrumental in helping rehab his back as well as being able to sit without pain. He sits on the ball in a traditional way, whereas I always kneel on top balancing on my legs and knees...I love it now and would probably find it hard to sit at the computer any other way!
Just sitting on a stability ball is passive exercise....working your abs and lower back while you're sitting! So if you've got one out in the workout room, or hanging around the house, put it in front of your computer and get to work!

What a great idea! I loved using one of those while pregnant (and in labor), it really helping with my lower back pains. I never thought about it, but considering my herniated disks, it's probably worth a whirl for computer time!
btw - I'm dropping something in the mail today, look for it in the next couple of days!

Hey, there is that lamp that I like so much!
Christine,
The kids might like it too!
Should I say yum, yum now..or later!
Fawn,
I knew you would "spot" it!
Next time I'm in St Paul we need more shopping time! Oh yea...you'll be here in Feb., we'll do more shopping then! (At the Flea Market though!)
Been using one for almost 11 years myself!
They rock!
I can't sit in chairs for any length of time without my back starting to tighten up.I like being able to roll the ball around and shift positions all the time.
The reason most people say they can't sit on a ball for any length of time is that it is hard work! you are working the deep stabilizing musclesof the back and abs strongly and you have to build up just as with any resistance tool.
And you still have to try to have neutral posture. you can easily slouch on a ball and tweak yourself as well.
Damn! I sit on a chair. Whatever pain I feel, I've been blaming on the government.
Hella cute picture Tracy! LOVE the Lucky sweatpants!!
Hey Carrie!
You know there are only a few things I'll pay full (retail) price for...these were one of them!
See ya on Sat.
Hi Tracy,
Sitting seiza on a stability ball, I'm going to pass that on to my white belts. I tend to sit seiza if I watch TV or read for more than 15 minutes. I found that it helped me with the rehab of my broken leg. I stand about 12-14 hours a day.
I'm going to book a session with Rif to get my husband ready for RKC. Maybe I could come with him and cook dinner for you folks. Sounds like a plan?
take care
