It's Friday morning and 12 weeks since my surgery. I feel as if I'm as strong as can be expected. I had an awesome 2 hand swing ladder workout on Wednesday, (I'll post the video another time), but here's what I did today, after 5:30am Bikram yoga.
1000 2 hand swings w/24kg, 15 sec. work, 15 sec rest x 50 min.
(100 sets of 10)
I took the video around set 44 (22 min.), I was going to tape at the halfway point, but to be honest I wasn't sure I was going to make the goal of 50 min., which of course motivated me to keep going and complete it.
With only 15 sec rest I was so tired that I barely had the energy to walk to the video camera, or even take a sip of water. In fact I just didn't have the energy to tape the last few sets....so there you go. I'll have to try this again in a few weeks to compare how my training is progressing.
I wish I could say it was fun, but it was barely tolerable, boring and HARD!!!
It's all part of my good life.
Holy crap, Tracy! Nice going! Plus, your shoulders are coming back, did you notice that? I might have to try this one out for myself... god, I wish you lived closer.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did notice my shoulders coming back, woo hoo! That was part of the motivation for this workout...I just wanted to slam my shoulders hard! (LOL, I know I can sound hardcore sometimes!)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm still working on my "muffin top"!
Hon, that's SERIOUSLY impressive. Hell I know I can't do the same thing with the same weight. Not sure if I could do it with the 20 kg! amazing.
ReplyDeleteOk, so you did this kick-ass workout AFTER Bikram? (speechless gasps) Truly amazing!
ReplyDeleteLeslie,
ReplyDeleteI've beeen doing my KB's after Bikram for a few weeks now. I hate to sound like I think I'm something special, but Bikram is easy for me, it's just a warm up! In fact I've been thinking about "doubling up" on my Bikram class on Monday and taking two in a row.
I just have to tell you that you always inspire me. I never thought to try that many swings with the 24kg so I thought I'd give it a try. No thousand but I'm still happy with me 540. My grip started giving out. Peggy
ReplyDeletePeggy,
ReplyDeleteRight on! It takes a while to build up that grip and forearm, especially two handed swings, because neither hand gets a break!
Hi, Tracy,
ReplyDeletenew poster but old daily reader here.
First of all, I have to thank you for what an inspiration and motivation you have been for me in the last 10 months. Especially because (I hope you are not offended by me saying this) we seem to have a few things in common: I'm 38 with 3 children, a (usually more, but sometimes less) controlled compulsive overeater, lost nearly half my bodyweight after the 3. child, had a similar surgery a few years back...
Started kettlebell training last April and I often came here for training ideas, but I never actually dared to try any of your workouts as they were - until yesterday's 1000 swings @24kg in 50mins. It's a killer, especially for the grip, my fingers were totally numb towards the end...
I'm getting ready for the RKC cert now (May), so I really have to push myself to do as much high volume training as possible to survive it. I have read all your archives and I really love your combos, although they smoke my ass :) If I may bother you with a question: You started this blog after your cert, have you eventually had a previous one about your preparation? Was your prep training much different from what you used to do later in 2006 (first blog posts)?
I would be very glad about any advice.
All the best to you
Gaby
