I didn't have to spend the whole day at work, but I still had to eat! I'm so used to taking my own food wherever I go, (most of the time it's already pre-portioned!) it's no trouble to pack up and go. Here's a days food (L to R),
Delicata squash soup w/roasted squash, brussels and turkey 350 cal.
addition shredded green cabbage for soup (in baggy) 0 cal.
Peet's coffee w/cream 60 cal.
Lamb shanks w/fennel, white beans, beet stems, (shredded beet tops, red & green, in baggy) 500 cal.
Almonds 100 cal.
Fuji apple 100 cal., 1 oz Pt. Reyes Bleu cheese 100 cal.
Prunes, ( 8 )160 cal.
Total calories 1370
Add in morning cream 60 cal. = 1420
Delicata Squash Soup
I peeled and diced 1 delicata squash and cooked it in enough chicken stock to cover, until soft (10-14 min.), mashed it, in the pot, with a potato masher, season w/S& P, and then added it to 1 cup of my base veggie soup. I mixed in some additional roasted squash / brussels and 3oz turkey. and after heated, poured it over shredded cabbage. I'm, kind of, into what I call my soup & salad (in one!).
What is it about Peet's coffee? I used to read another blog of this woman who lived in Oakland and she used to also talk about Peet's coffee. Must be a west coast thing (I live in Florida, and originally from Connecticut. I have never heard of Peet's coffee until I started reading California bloggers.) Is it really that good?
ReplyDeletemichelle,
ReplyDeleteReally...I honestly don't know if it's how good it is, or how strong it is!
It's 'hardcore', not only the flavor and strength, but I think part of the appeal is "Anti-Starbucks"!!!!
Michelle, jumping in here, Peet's coffee is a west coast thing and it's super strong and tastes so much better than Starbucks. I think you can order some on line if you want to try it out. :)
ReplyDeletesorry, to hijack, Tracy, Peet's deserves a shout out! :)
Jen
Jenn,
ReplyDeleteRight on! All I know is that I'm not a happy girl if I don't get my Peet's!
I just think it's funny you (and other Californians) say "Peet's" coffee, instead of just saying coffee with cream. It's not like I go around saying "I'm having my Folgers coffee with cream".
ReplyDeleteAnyway... I'll just have to order some online and see for myself!
